Looks great, service good but the food.....

If looks were a guide to quality then Junahki would be top notch. While its decor and service are excellent the food itself is not. The excitement of spotting bhel poori as a starter was slowly deflated when the dish eventually arrived. It was a mish mash of bits of fried pastry in a mix of set yogurt and a brown sauce which had the slightest hint of tamarind. There were fresh corriander leaves but these were offset by the peas.... horrible. The remaining curry was bog standard curry house. Not greasy but non-descript sauces covering non-descript ingredients. I used to have a theory that all the curry houses on Brick Lane were supplied by one kitchen that connected to all the restaurants by an underground railway; someone may have built an extension to Tunbridge Wells. Needs to get a chef to match the surroundings and front of house staff.
