| Loaf is one of those post-modern restaurant bars that have a depressing vibe and sucks the soul out of your love for food. It is dark and lifeless and makes taking a seat to commit to a meal very difficult. The menu is a typical one you get in nearly all chain bars or pubs. It is the kind of food you know what it will taste of before you put it in your mouth. They like to think they give you a trendy eating experience but odd shaped plates and fancy presentation can not hide the fact that these types of bars should not be considered when you are out for a meal. For some city people this may be a great place to spend an evening drinking or to start a night out, but in terms of a comforting and welcoming restaurant location it does not score highly at all. The price is in its favour with special deals such as getting two meals from the main menu section for the price of one. On a sunny day in Chester, why darken your spirits in a place like this when there are plenty of bright, lively or quaint places to eat just minutes away. Chris Hammer |
