Having been rudely turned away by Prezzo oposite we finally made the effort to make the two minute walk to Tutti the newish Italian restarant in Braintree. We were trepadatius to say the least having been very regular at Prezzo and having religiously put up with their slipping standards and moody manager for so long. Anyway, Saturday night 8.15pm, we crossed the road into the unknown. We could see from ouside that they had people waiting in line for tables - same as Prezzo, however, having made the long journey wedecided to venture inside and find out if unlike Prezzo they could accomodate us sometime this weekend. We were in for a shock - albeit as pleasant as it was surprising. There was indeed a queue with an anticipated wait of 20 minutes. We were whisked into the spacious bar area (no seates here) and offered drinks to keep us amused and a menu to whet our apetite. Service to this point was extra efficient and friendly. From here everything was a blur - why had we persevered with the competition for so long? The menu offered most of the Pizza and pasta dishes of Prezzo but the added bonus for my hubby was the choice of steaks and a few apparently authentic Tuscan Specialities. Our waitress was very special, Calimari took me back to last years holiday in Italy - real freshly battered not frozen as so on and on the experience got better. Steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted sublime, nicely cooked vegetables and rouded off with the most delicious (homemade again) tiramisu. Wine was excellently priced and for 3 courses, wine, 2 x gin and tonic plus coffees and one whisky £44 seemed to be to good to be true. They apparently have ambitions to become a chain like Prezzo - pity, they might become too much like Prezzo and start turning their regulars away! Tutti Tuscan Grille is aiming for the stars!
