Oh the depths that this once great pub has now plumbed. I had the "cheese and bacon burger" - and without a shadow of a doubt this was the worst meal I have ever had in a pub. The burger was obviously re-cooked (tough as leather and bearing little resemblance to meat), and the oil in which the chips / onion rings had been deep fried must have been seriously old and overused - tainted and absolutely disgusting. And on the subject of onion rings - who puts these inside the bun on a burger?! The Compasses, that's who. Awful. Whoever the manager is, he or she should be ashamed of themselves. I see from the applications nailed to the trees outside that the place has applied for a late licence. For the sake of visitors to Tunbridge Wells, I hope that they're not keeping the kitchen open late as well. Truffle Pig
