Steve Harris of "The Sportsman" fame started here many a moon ago "doing the pastries" in this vast hangar of a bar, bierkeller and gastro restaurant just around the corner from Waterloo station in London.
You can drink and/or eat in the front bit, or you can saunter back into the dining area at the back. The large menu hitch-hikes through the world's cuisines - pacific rim here, pasta there, med veg abounding - so its almost impossible not to find something that you want to eat. my tandoori tuna loin (don't ask) supposedly came with banana raitha (sorry no banana there....), sag aloo (fresh green spinach on chips - I kid you not) and a spicy salsa (present and correct) - a weird combination, but tasty and as fresh as a daisy. D's liver came with a crunchy parsley crust and Q's poussin was ok - but not the best she'd had.
All in all, a pleasant unhurried fresh nosh place to suit the pickiest of diners. M |
