A man who sprinkled his pubic hair over a half-eaten curry in an attempt to not pay for it has been jailed.

Lee Tyers was caught on camera adding the extra ingredient to his meal before complaining to staff.

Christmas Day diner dies after food poisoning bug found

A woman has died and 30 people have fallen ill following a Christmas Day lunch at an east London pub.

Della Callagher died two days after eating at the Railway Hotel in Hornchurch.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) began an inquiry after the Clostridium perfringens bacterium was found in samples from the affected diners.

Mrs Callagher's husband John said he took her to hospital on Boxing Day but is angry doctors told her to go home.

Toddler served whisky at Frankie and Benny's restaurant

A restaurant has apologised after a toddler was served whisky instead of fruit juice at his birthday party.

Sonny Rees drank the 40% proof whisky at his second birthday in a Frankie and Benny's restaurant in Swansea.

His mother Nina Rees only realised the mistake after he had finished the drink.

Sonny, from Pontarddulais in Swansea, was taken to accident and emergency where he was kept under observation by doctors.

Brighton all-you-can eat restaurant bans two 'greedy' diners

Two men barred from an all-you-can-eat Mongolian restaurant in Brighton say it was because they ate too much food.

George Dalmon and Andy Miles, both 26, have visited Gobi, in Middle Street, twice a month for two years to take advantage of the £12 deal.

But when they each ate five bowls from the buffet at their last visit, Mr Dalmon said they were called "filthy pigs" and barred by the "rude" manager.

The restaurant's owners said they were fed up with their lack of manners.

Rochester-based entrepreneur Jason Batchelor supplies local produce from companies that do not offer delivery themselves and whose products are often only available in local farm shops and at farmers’markets.

Richard Phillips delighted with Thackeray’s return to Michelin Star status

Celebrity chef Richard Phillips has told staff to “go celebrate” after his Thackeray’s Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells bagged a coveted Michelin Star.

Gaining a Michelin star is internationally seen as one of the highest commendations in the restaurant industry and Phillips, who is also known for his TV work on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, is rightly delighted.

After the 2013 Michelin Guide was leaked online yesterday, Phillips took to social networking site Twitter to express his feelings.

Simon Rogan equals Blumenthal’s perfect 10 in 2013 restaurant guide

Now for the first time since 2006, a top score has been awarded to a restaurant other than Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck, with the honour going to Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume in Cumbria.

Blumenthal’s Fat Duck, in Berkshire, tops the Good Food Guide’s list for the fifth year running. L’Enclume is number two for the second year in a row but last year was given nine out of 10.

The menu costing £60 per head, will be available on Sunday 29th April at his Ambrette Restaurant @ Rye, which is located in the historic Cinque Port town’s White Vine House, holder of 5 AA stars.

The evening begins with Soup of wild mushroom and Kentish blue cheese laced with 12 year old Glenlivet, then a Spice crusted Rye Bay scallops on a bed of aromatic Anglo Indian kedgeree with Tullibardine single malt.

Jonny Dunhill, owner of Eddie Gilbert's in Ramsgate, one of the nicest guys in the
business, died this morning.

He'd been diagnosed with cancer in the summer.

He leaves 3 young children.

The team has worked to develop a new, more diverse range of courses that reflect their ethos for fresh, locally sourced food, with all classes being lead by their professional chefs. Classes include ‘Knife Skills’, ‘Meat’, ‘Fish’, ‘Bread’ and ‘Bakes & Cakes’, and ‘Now You’ve Caught Your Pig’, focusing on utilising every part of the animal.

iPhone app to pay the restaurant bill

A few tap of a buttons on a smart phone application – or app – will mean that diners can leave the restaurant when they please.

Instead of a receipt, they will be sent an electronic confirmation that they have paid, and the restaurant's till will also be sent a message, so the management knows that the customer is not "doing a runner" without settling.

The idea has been pioneered by PayPal, the online payment company and Pizza Express, one of Britain's biggest chain restaurants, which is rolling it out across all of its 370 outlets this week.
