Pleasant Victorian Pub with a nice sized garden at the back. In this part of the world, £9.75 is reasonable for a (very) modest Tuna Nicoise Salad, and £8.75 for a Chicken Caesar Salad, and although hardly the best value in town, these were both quite acceptable platefuls. When we asked for the bill, however, the woman behind the bar looked at the till and said "£26.25" As J and I were each paying for ourselves, and her drinks were more expensive than mine, we asked for the bill, and the irritated woman repeated "£26.25"

This got right up J's nose, she's an easy going woman, but the Albert is not a rustic inn where they chalk things up on a slate, and the nearest computer is three days ride by stagecoach. It's Primrose Hill NW1, and the woman behind the bar had a computer in front of her, with one of those little things for printing bills out with. With much sighing and stamping, the woman called her Manager, who made a big deal out of printing our bill out for us, as if we were being real fusspots. When we saw the bill, it said "Service Not Included" on the bottom. Now, my dear friends, I leave you to guess exactly how much we added to the bill for "service"
