Finding ourselves in Hornsey High St at around lunchtime today, we chose this place at random. As we walked in I overheard a conversation between a customer and a waiter.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, are you a vegetarian?" she asked.
"Well, I'm not now" he replied happily, so I don't know what was going on there, except he went on to say its was great food, but he would never finish it all. Three frocked priests in the centre of the room were also struggling.

I had the Lamb Kofte (£4.95) a huge plate with mounds of perfect, light steamed rice, six huge chargrilled patties and a pile of fresh chopped salad. L had one of the Specials - Beef Stew. It was home made, rich and delicious, came in a terra cotta pot, set on a plate with rice, but his salad was so big it needed its own separate bowl. You know that feeling when the food is so good you can't bear to leave any, but you're actually full ? You have to select your sacrifices. I sacrificed most of the rice and the lettuce and onion of the salad. L had a beer, I had a coke, we had no room for anything else, and the bill came to £13.

So, that's freshly cooked food, served in industrial quantities, brought swiftly by pleasant staff in a light, clean room, with old Beatles songs playing softly in the background. At a very reasonable price. What's not to like ?
