This was recommended at the B&B where we stayed. Strange yellow satin napery, but comfortable and clean enough. L started with risotto marinara, I had ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach - both good. We shared a second course of turbot, which was very fresh and taken off the bone for us at our table, accompanied by spinach. The food quality was excellent, but the service was showy (many flourishes while de-boning the fish on a side table) but indifferent, and we were kept waiting quite a lot, although the restarant was not crowded. The worst thing was the wine. We had ordered an interesting sounding cabernet franc at 15,000 lire but it never arrived. Finally we asked the waiter, who said they had run out of it and offered a cabernet sauvignon instead, which we accepted. When the bill arrived, we saw that the boring sauvignon was twice the price of the cabernet franc - 30,000 lire. Bit of a nerve, that. Because the food was so good, I'd give the White Horse an OK, but Rome has so many great places to eat, I wouldn't return. OK DM (2001)
