Naming your restaurant so simply, basically after what you're doing, either indicates an inner confidence, a lack of imagination or madness. For instance, would the Ivy call itself, "Ordinary Modern British Food well presented for Celebrities Only?" Would the average British cafe call itself "The Greasy Spoon"? Would American Burger call itself "Crap in a Bap"? "Thai and Shanghai Cuisine" have a tardis-like restaurant near the middle of Tunbridge Wells with a bar in the basement and a tiny Buddah garden in the back which can be seen from the seats in the rear tables. Food here is rich, full-flavoured and confident - starters of satay and srping rolls piping hot and with "assertive" dips - not subtle but delicious. Main courses, in our case stir fries, were truly marvellous with heaps of fresh, crunchy veg and tender sliced meat (unlike the leathery much-heated dross you can get elsewhere). If I was to be picky I'd say that the service can border on the abrupt - there's no point in asking "is everything alright" if you don't hang around long enough to hear the answer. Minor quibbles aside this is an excellent destination. M
