It is simply not fair that Irena and her husband are not supported in this terrific restaurant. It should be full every night, but the Welsh are so conservative.

First, the decor. I have never seen such beautiful authentic decor in any restaurant in Moskow, St Petersburg or anywhere in Russia, let alone in the West. Even if you are not going to eat there, just go and have a look. They have spent a tasteful bomb on this place. It shows heart and enthusiasm not just investment.

What seems to be at first a cuisine curiosity turns out to be fine dining at its best.

The authenticity of the dishes is well researched; some are historic, you probably cannot find them out of private homes in Georgia or any other part of Russia.

No, they do not serve chips, but, if you are that desperate, just pop down the the restaurant in the 6 Bells downstairs and you get British Pub Food (same owners AND chef by the way).

I have been there so often and have yet to have a meal that has not been a delightful surprise.

And the wines. I have been to Georgia several years ago and the wines were terrible, but now there has been a revolution. France and Australia watch out: you have some quality competition from this unknown wine area.
