Newly opened, I decided to book a table for valentines to give the place a go. Nice simple decor, and from our table you could see into the wood fired oven where the dishes are being cooked. A good selection on the menu, we opted for warm chorizo nibbles and oven baked wild prawns for starters. The prawns were very good (and extremely large), but I was a little dissapointed that they only gave us two of them for £5! There are more than 30 pizzas available along with pasta and chicken dishes, so plenty of choice for the indecisive. The pizzas tasted fresh and light- my partner's prawn, sundried tomato & goats cheese went down a treat (although another minute or two in the oven for my own main wouldn't have hurt). There is definately an emphasis on produce here, which works well for the restaurant. However, they do need to work on the service, as only one person was catering for all the tables and was obivously overstretched. At a total of £40 for two with a bottle merlot I suppose it wasn't exactly cheap, but I think with a bit more time they could be on to a winner here.

Best pizza in town

Truly excellent pizza. Probably the best in town - although what is there in the way of competition? The only two I can think of are the ever-shrinking offerings from Pizza Express (which seem to only come served with a large pack of giggling teenagers celebrating a sixteenth birthday at the next table) and the limited selection from Strada (admittedly good). But 'good' isn't what Firebelly's are all about... no, this fine establishment offe EXCELLENT pizza and other choice Italian dishes. On the Saturday evening we dined, the place was bafflingly empty aside from a couple at an ajoining table. The kitchen on the other hand (handily in full view about the main seating area) was extremely busy, with four or five people creating pizza – repeatedly twirling and throwing the thin dough platters high to create perfect bases, loading them with all sorts of exquisite and innovative toppings and finally, loading them into the mouth of a huge, glowing pizza oven... the firebelly itself! One can only assume that the busy activity in the kitchen can be attributed to Fiebelly's also offering a takeway (and delivery) service - something I have now taken advantage of several times! Although for some reason, the pizza tastes better when served in their resaturant, so if you're reading this and already know the superb quality of the pizza... give 'em a go! I echo the words of a previous review regarding service and the price - but what price quality eh? If you won't pay just that little bit more for a slice of heaven, then you can always go to the other pizza place in town that I neglected to mention... the 'Hut'!

* Yeah, yeah, I know there are loads of pizza joints in T Wells... but seriously, NOTHING comes close to Firebelly's. Tip: order the pepperdew stuffed with cream cheese as an appetiser – as close to a divine experience you can have on Mount Ephraim! ; )

Firebelly's - Pretty good.

I visited Firebelly's last Saturday with the missus. I had chorizo to start which was excellent - simply pan-fried with a dainty rocket salad. Her ladyship had their bread sticks and pesto. We both had pizza for a main course. Both our pizzas were excellent, although I never will understand why pizzas are served to fit the exact size of the plate you have - is this not asking for a lap full of pizza? I felt the service was a tiny bit slow, but then I wasn't in a rush so it mattered not. We were in there for a little over 70 minutes and the place wasn't busy. Well worth a visit.
