Firebellys, 42 Mount Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN4 8AU42 Mount Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN4 8AU 01892 615999 Newly opened, I decided to book a table for valentines to give the place a go. Nice simple decor, and from our table you could see into the wood fired oven where the dishes are being cooked. A good selection on the menu, we opted for warm chorizo nibbles and oven baked wild prawns for starters. The prawns were very good (and extremely large), but I was a little dissapointed that they only gave us two of them for £5! There are more than 30 pizzas available along with pasta and chicken dishes, so plenty of choice for the indecisive. The pizzas tasted fresh and light- my partner's prawn, sundried tomato & goats cheese went down a treat (although another minute or two in the oven for my own main wouldn't have hurt). There is definately an emphasis on produce here, which works well for the restaurant. However, they do need to work on the service, as only one person was catering for all the tables and was obivously overstretched. At a total of £40 for two with a bottle merlot I suppose it wasn't exactly cheap, but I think with a bit more time they could be on to a winner here. |
