We ate at Tatyan's on the recommendation of the proprieter of a B&B in Cirencester. The food was good--what there was of it! The portions were extremely skimpy, even by European standards. We started with spring rolls. For the main meal we ordered Yeung Chow Fried Rice (our server assured us it would easily serve two) and Kung Po Chicken (again, enough for two). The spring rolls were superb! We thought, we made an excellent choice. Our server brought us each a small soup bowl. We didn't order soup but we thought perhaps it came with our meal. Our server brought out a marginally bigger bowl of fried rice and a small dinner plate with the Kung Po Chicken. I think there might have been 12 pieces of chicken. This dinner that was "enough for two" was barely enough for one. Even I wasn't satisfied. And my husband and I aren't huge eaters! We went to Tesco afterwards and bought a bag of chocolate chip cookies which we both scarfed down while we went for our after dinner walk. Perhaps there was a reason why there was only one other couple in there besides us. We walked by Tatyan's the next night at 7:30 and it was practically empty. And it was Friday night! Should have been busier. The other restaurants in town were. To their credit, the food was very good but the portions were too skimpy for us. Susan M.
