Red Peppers, Teddington High Street, Teddington, MiddlesexTeddington High Street, Teddington, Middlesex 0208 977 5452 Where do i start? This is my favourite restaurant! When you first look at Red Peppers it looks like any other small restaurant but when you get inside it opens out into a old fashioned rustique style restaurant! It reminds me of the small bistros in Italy only with more class! Service is normally first class although on one occasion we were kept waiting for 20 minutes but it was extremely busy, and is the only fault i have ever experienced there. On to the important matter of the food! The menu isn't large, but you do have enough choice, pizza, pasta, steak, chicken... There is something for all tastes. I have had the same thing ever since i started eating there, boring but i am always guaranteed perfection! And that makes a nice change to some of the horrible places that i've eaten, but we will get to those later! The meal of my choice consists of Moules with a white wine sauce, Blue steak coated in a blue cheese sauce and Vanilla chessecake (although i do sometimes change my dessert, and they are all great!) The Mussels are always cooked nicely and there is never a bad one to be found, the sauce isn't too heavy and tastes divine, just right to dip the complimentary bread into. Talking of free things! If olives are your forte, you will seriously like this place, as you get a bowl of very nice ones free before you eat! On to the most important thing, the steak! Always cooked exactly right, my fetish for nearly raw steak is always satisfied here! The steak is good stuff, not fatty and cheap! The sauce is great and the chips are really good, dusted in a 'secret' coating which i think contains paprika amongst other things or the fried potatoes which are equally as morish! So much choice! As i said before the desserts are really good and i think are mostly home made which always seems better! I can also recommed the chicken and ribs and the tuna, sampled by my partner (and myself when he wasn't looking!)and are all good! Overall this is a great little place at a good price, the drinks aren't too expensive, and the atmosphere is friendly and fun, they also have a back room which caters for parties and i'm told are really good value at the same excellent standards! If you ever are in the area, it's a definite must! nikki31 |
