Wow! What a solid building opening it's doors to reveal a sumptious interior styled with modern and clear lines, we're meet and greeted and off to the low lit bar for pre dinner drinks at ahem rather latitude prices, still we're here to sample and indulge. Shown to our table, we numbered seven and were sat in a crescent shaped booth with the silver string curtains providing privacy without taking the view away from our fellow diners. Cutlery and crockery impeccable place on the surface... then we wait 5 mins.. 10 mins.. 15 mins and finally we catch the eye of the waiting staff in black, order drinks and then we wait 5 mins.. 10 mins.. 20 mins, we despatch a member of the group to track down the drinks, they arrive 5 mins later. 40 minutes from being seated to tasting liquid.

Our bread plates remain empty at the start of the evening and remain so throughout. We'd better order fast, the food, is tasty and adequate, but for the price we pay should have been superb, mistakes, grilled fish is served pan fried, risotto is tasteless and congealed, scallops are gritty. The waiting staff buzz around the place looking and appearing busy, but not in our direction. Incidentally a panache of vegetables consists of a nuclear family of green beans accompanied by cousin of a baby carrot, the Fat Maris Piper chips are in fact six blocks of potato jenga. The desserts are fine, sticky toffee pudding, is light and ice cream fresh, though more sauce would have been nice. By the end of the meal, the relaxed music has been turned up to disco volume and scores of beautiful (in their minds no doubt) young people are thronging the bar and spilling onto the restaurant, air kisses, meets and greets, we wonder if this is an eating establishment or a photo studio for wannabe celebrities. The bill takes another 15 mins to arrive. It seems we entered a restaurant and left a nightclub, and that's not what we ordered. Harry King
