Questions & Answers

What do I need to use the Restaurant Spy Guide for iPod?

You need a relatively new iPod, which supports notes (most any iPod sold on or after 2003) and a program that will unzip files. (WinZip for Windows or Stuffit Expander for the Mac are both good options.)

Will this fill up my iPod?

No. It takes up less space on your iPod than an average song.

How do I mount my iPod as an external drive?

1. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.

2. Select iPod in the iTunes source list.

3. Click the iPod options button in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.

4. Click the "Enable disk use" checkbox, then click OK.

5. Close iTunes and notice that your iPod appears on your Mac desktop or in Windows Explorer on your PC.

6. To eject the iPod on a Mac, select the iPod on the desktop and drag it to the Trash.

To eject the iPod on a PC, select the iPod in Windows Explorer, right click on the iPod and choose Eject from the pop-up menu that appears. Or at the bottom-right of the screen, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.

Why do I get a "Notes Loading" when viewing the Dining Guide?

After installing or updating the Spy Guide, your iPod needs to read all of the restaurants into its memory. It should only need to do it once.

How do I update the restaurant listings?

Open the Notes folder on your iPod on your PC or Mac, delete the existing Restaurantspy folder, and follow the instructions above to get the latest copy.
