Cafe Guru, 6 Brewery Place, Brewery Wharf, Leeds, LS1 O1N
6 Brewery Place, Brewery Wharf, Leeds, LS1 O1N 0113 2442255 The best restaurant I've visited all year - absolutely stunning, almost space age interiors, impeccable service & exceptional food. I know it is good because my husband is notoriously difficult to please (he's an architect, aka perfectionist!) & he was over the moon with Cafe Guru as the choice for his 40th birthday celebration. The restaurant coped admirably with our large (and probably quite noisy at times) group of 18. Everyone, without exception, vegetarians & meat eaters alike were very impressed with their food. I can personally recommend the Tandoori King Prawns (Starter) and the pan-fried leg of lamb (main course)...we were too full for dessert but coffees were served even though we had overun our booking time on the table. Heartily recommend this place - can't wait to go back! |

Cafe Guru visit no 2
After telling various friends about the food last time I booked a table for 6 a number of weeks ago. Tonight I find out we have an addition to the party, so rang Cafe Guru to warn them. Unfortunately they could not accomodate the extra person at all. I offered to move the time if that would help but to no avail. There was no apology or offer to help at all.
I therefore cancelled my booking, and will be visiting one of the older Indian establishments in Leeds instead where they still understand that the customer is king, and customer service is paramount.
Won't be visiting CafeGuru again. What a waste.
cafe guru
Excellent atmosphere, starters (shami kebabs, prawns) and main dishes (chicken massala, lamb/balti).
Let down by unattentive staff all evening, pickles bettered by your local take-away for choice, size and taste, and brittle chapattis (ie not very fresh)
Will go back again, but if these other small points were addressed it would really be up there with some of the best Indian food around.
