Love a bit of live music, but 6 of us went for a meal and a natter on a saturday night, and the raucous sing-a-long with the folk musician drowned out all possible conversation eventually!
The other major problem was the incredible wait for food. We were booked in at 8.15, 4 meember of the party received their main course at 10.00, the other 2 were told the chef had dropped their food, which then turned up 20 minutes later, by which time a packet of crisps and a pickled egg would have gone down a treat.
The food was pleasant enough but .... confusion rained about what vegetables would be served with the meals. Separate portions of vegetables were highly priced, and as seems to be the tradition these days, minimal amounts came with the dishes. The waitress assured us that vegetables were included with 2 of the pork dishes, however they turned up : 20 minutes after everyone elses meal, with 2 sugar snap peas delicately balanced on top!
She did dash off and remedy the situation ..so veggys arrived 10 minutes after meal ....
If you dont mind eating in relays this is the pub for you. We did not want to make a fuss as friends had choosen the pub,and it was a last meal together before they went travelling. However there was no offer to reduce the bill for such poor service.
Over-stretched kitchen and expensive food, with poor communication between staff waiting on tables and the kitchen.
Saving grace : pleasant staff ..and a no smoking pub. !
