Went to Amigos for our Xmas meal and the restaurant is small and cold. The service was ok but the food was substandard and have had much better in a pub. My husband had nachos which were like stale crisps with a funny sauce on and the chicken fajitas sauce was not pleasant either. The portions were not very big so really disappointed and would never go there again and advise nobody else to go too

I'm going to check out the tequila menu...
I've never been there, I'm seriously considering it as I was trained in Mexican cuisine and have spent 4 years tasting various tequilas and trying to perfect my margarita menu. I'm also well versed on south american wine and familiar with around 60 tequilas and about 120 cocktails, so I like to think if I do go and have a evening out I can judge the place from an unbiased observation. I'm not sure whether it is strictly a restaurant, or more of a mexican market style restaurant/canteena like wahaca or Thomas Estes' restaurants. I suppose I shall have to go in and judge for myself rather than listen to these reviews.

I have to say Amigos has the best mexican food i have ever tasted. Im not sure how big your appetite is but to me, and the 15 others i was with, the portions were plenty big enough, there was even left overs! We all had such a good night and thought food, service and the restaurant were brilliant.
i would definately recommend Amigos for food and for a good night out drinking cocktails

We welcome any criticism, and understand that everybody is entitled to their own opinion, however....
When somebody turns up to a restaurant with their own dessert in a tupperware box, it is questionable whether their opinion is actually based on the experience they had not. I would suggesat that the lady in question had already decided that she was not going to enjoy herself! What a shame for her.
It should also be noted that of the entire party that accompanied said lady, she was the only one to have a problem with the food. In fact, we received a thank you letter and a card on behalf of the entire party that came from Dunstable police station. So all of her colleagues clearly disagreed profusely.
It is a shame that Garooba did not enjoy her meal, but frankly, we find it hard to take seriously the opinion of somebody who brings their own food to a restaurant. One must question the reliability of her opinion really.
We strive to make our customers happy, and we regularly receive thank you notes and cards from happy customer, who were delighted with both service and the food.

I live in Luton and regularly go to Amigos for food and drinks and I have to totally disagree with the above review. The food is delicious, home made and freshley prepared. The menu is great with loads to chose from, starters main courses and side dishes including vegetarian options.
The place is lively and poplar serving 100s of different cocktails.
Great for a meal and/or night out for cocktails.

You've got to have pretty low standards when it comes to food. "The food is delicious, home made and freshley prepared" - heh? Have you ever tasted fresh and home-made food?? I think not. The food in that place is a disgrace - you have to be a liar to call it "delicious". The menu is not great. There were not 100s of cocktails on the menu. I think you either own that place or you work there. Really, the place is gross.
If you do own that place - PLEASE get another chef. You are killing your business. Just so you do understand how a business works, our group are telling everyone at work on Monday about what a DUMP Amigos is. You have to shape up.

Amigos is a great night out, the people in there are really friendly and the food is delicious. Maybe its you who is the problem, because from what I can see you wouldn't know good food if it hit you in the face.
I recomend amigos to everyone I know and I'm sure they would say the same to you and about your comments.

I think amigos is a great night out, me and my friends go there to eat all the time, yes the restaurant is small - its a small place!! do you want them to build it bigger for you?
Also the food is nice, ive been there loads and never had any complaints about it, and really how much do you expect for £20 a head on a xmas do? the staff are always friendly and helpful and i think there is more than enough cocktails to choose from.
If you dont like dont come back, i wouldnt want snooty people like you ruining the atmosphere in there

Wow, mixed reviews here.
3 of my friends and I arrived to be greeted by a friendly doorman who opened the door for us.
Drinks were served with a smile, as was the food, great waitresses! Good food too! And the music created a nice atmosphere.
This good looking magician came to our table to entertain us. He made my watch appear in my friends pocket.. From my wrist.. How the heck?? He was great.. His name is Carl Charlesworth.. I grabbed his business card ;) Love to see him again. Anyway, to sum up: FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT DRINKS, GREAT FOOD, GOOD MUSIC AND FANTASTIC MAGICAL ENTERTAINMENT. Cheers Amigos!

Well my companion and I duly trotted off for a drink which was to be followed by a much-anticipated Mexican meal. I had booked the table by telephone (naturally confirming that I was through to Amigos) for 2000 hours.
We arrived on time and were shown upstairs. Something was wrong, as the menu was clearly Italian and not Mexican. We asked where Amigos was and were sent downstairs.
What we found was that Amigos is no more.

I find the comments here (although dated) rather intriguing, particularly from the person who clearly has issues with the restaurant. However, the other comments people left have convinced me otherwise and I am about to book a table for two for tomorrow. I have been fortunate in that I have in the past been able to dine around the globe and I am intrigued to see for myself how good the fare and the hospitality at this restaurant are.
Either way, I am bookmarking this page so that I can post a review afterwards which will be honest and based on what happens. People sometimes are swift to broadcast criticism yet loath to praise.
I am going with a completely open mind and am hoping for an excellent evening. Watch this space!
