A new restaurant in town is always a bonus - an opportunity to try something different. With Preedee Thai though, the stakes were much higher as they replaced a friendly, familiar and much loved Filippo's - an Italian restaurant and takeaway that boasted the best pizzas in town.

So, it was with not a little trepidation that I chanced upon a takeaway there last week. From a fairly extensive, some would say too extensive, menu, I chose a Yum Nua - a steak and chilli salad with rice. Pleasingly assured it would take about twenty minutes, I settled down with a bottle of beer. After six minutes (I counted them) it was ready.....

A fresh, pungent and tasty salad with mint and coriander, it was delicious. And the rice and salad came in handy microwaveable boxes too.... M

Very good pad thai

We ate a very nice lunch here - the pad thai was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, crunchy and moist.

Here's another strange one. Went in to order a takeaway the other night, was told I had to wait forty five minutes to an hour! Anyway after I said ok, then placed my order, they said it would be "a few minutes". Just enough time to sprint to the beer shop and back, six minutes later (get the theme), it was ready.

I too have now experienced this, 15 minutes which ended up 5. I went for the same as M and it really was good, with the addition of the mushrom hot and sour soup. Will be booking a table soon so will be interesting to see if that too, is as quick fire!

I've had lunch there and the service was extremely prompt. They were very friendly and the food was delicious. It's a real find and I will be back for my 'speed of light' takeaway very soon.
