BucksThe Chequers Inn, Wooburn Common, Buckinghamshire HP10 OJQWooburn Common Buckinghamshire HP10 OJQ This place oozes Agatha Christie. Someone will be found dead with a curiously carved oriental dagger between their shoulder blades before the night is out. It is a big, old country pub in a very nice part of the world with a big car park, plenty of chintz, roaring fires, stone flags, heavy oak beams, sudden turnings, inglenooks and big breezy fireplaces. There is a bar section which has some good beers on and then two restaurant areas - one posh and one less so. The Polecat Inn, 170 Wycombe Road, Prestwood, Bucks, HP16 0HJ170 Wycombe Road, Prestwood, Bucks, HP16 0HJ The Polecat Inn in the Chilterns is one of those vast country pubs with a huge garden, a multitude of outside tables and so popular that its got an extra field out the back for parking your car when the car park is full. The visiting eating population is a combination of young white-soxxed families, Del-boys and a significant number of "senior citizens" all of whom are urged to "note their table number" before ordering their food at the bar. |
