Wickham Wine Bar is set on the edge of Wickham Square the building has fantastic old beams and is set on two levels with an outside area and wine garden at the back.

What a find... The coffee shop cafe scene has become so saturated with the chains over recent years I'd lost all hope of having a positive experience in this sector again, but I could have been knocked over by a feather after my first ten minutes in this place.

The fare was nothing too adventurous; baguettes, focaccia paninis, salads, dessert pots, baked goods, pies etc. We had the usual 'made fresh' signs and the obligatory claim to gourmet coffee too, and a selection of syrups - all dressed up in what seemed to be a chain type frontage.

Fell upon this restaurant after shopping in the Gunwharf Quays complex, and well, we could not fault it! From the very warm welcome from the maitre d, she convinced us to have some oysters and champagne in the bar while a table became available (despite it being 7pm the restaurant was already full - on a Monday?!). Our waitress came over and suggested some of the dishes to us as we just couldn't decide.
