The Sportsman is a pub near to the beach on the coast road that goes from
Whitstable to Faversham. There are tables close to the bar or in seperate
rooms and there is plenty of space between them. The food is very good.
We had antipasta to start, which included oysters with churizo and for mains
we had crispy duck which was very, very good indeed. Portions are not huge
but not tiny either and the cooking is excellent. There is a fine choice
of wine, including English, which the manager pushes shamelessly and is
also very good. In fact it's all very good. Whitstable's best gastropub.
And you can go for a nice walk afterwards, along the Saxon Shore. Look out
for the blue butterflies. Harry
