| The owners of The Spice have obviously taken to heart the comedic musings of the "Goodness, Gracious, Me" team when they said "lets go for an English - what's the blandest thing you've got?" The Spice have seemed to have made a bit of an art of serving up food so inconsequential, so utterly, defiantly tasteless that it defies description. A late Wednesday tummy rumble made us pop in for a proper sit-down. Chicken Shashlick, Dupiaza, Sag Aloo, Puree and Rice. Oh and a Tarka Dal too. Bland, everything, tasteless……honest. It begs the question to a certain extent about what you want from your local Indian. For me, its something dependable but tasty, with a few Chef's specialities and at least a bit of heat…both ways. Do yourself a favour and trundle half a mile away to the hugely much more superior Taal and Tagore. M |
