The Isle of Dogs is generally a gastronomic disaster, never mind its
dreadful architecture. Finding this place is a real problem. You need
to be at Docklands Light Railway Crossharbour station and go westwards
down Pepper Street, then look for a little square that goes just down
to the dock. Baradero is a genuine oasis. Real, authentic Spanish tapas
(and raciones and main courses). Patatas bravas, bocquerones, calamares,
gambas al ajillo, etc, etc. Beautiful desserts, like a Spanish creme caramel,
a rice pudding with dried fruits, etc. Boring surroundings. Excellent
waiters. Excellent, large selection of the sort of good Spanish wines
that you'll never see in supermarkets or wine merchant chains. We had
a lovely tempranillo for £12. Food, wine, coffee, service, around £ 20-25.
